As we are now ending 2023 it will be interesting to speak about the best-selling cars of this year so far. The Vauxhall Corsa was the best-selling car of 2021 and it is still currently the best-selling car of this year so far. In 2019, Vauxhall decided to give the Corsa a complete overhaul in its appearance, making the car slightly bigger in size and the Corsa went from being a small, essential affordable car, to a more grown-up, sophisticated car and for the first time ever the Vauxhall Corsa was available to be purchased as a fully electric vehicle, making the Corsa a car which can compete in the ever-emerging electric car market. The statistics show car buyers have responded extremely well to the changes in the All-New Corsa.
The Kia Sportage has been a best selling car in the UK for quite some time now, whilst Kia may not be one of the best selling car brands in the UK in general, they really have done well with producing the Sportage. The vehicle is a small SUV and in recent years small SUVs have been very popular in the UK car market.
The Kia Sportage is now also available as a plug-in hybrid vehicle and this is a very clever move from Kia because SUVs are vehicles which are larger in size than a standard small car like the Vauxhall Corsa, so it is more practical to make an SUV a hybrid rather than a fully electric vehicle as SUVs are heavier in weight they will need more power and charge to move, whereas if the vehicle is a hybrid, there will be the option to use the electric range, but also the option to use petrol or diesel if the electric charge is not long enough for certain car journeys.

We are used to seeing the Ford Fiesta on the top end of our previous lists, but this time we are not seeing the Fiesta, instead, we are seeing the Ford Puma. So, you are probably wondering why the Ford Puma is now more popular than the almighty Fiesta? Well, like the Kia Sportage the Ford Puma is a compact SUV and we have mentioned previously that small SUVs are very popular at the moment, so this is most likely the reason why the Ford Puma has become more popular than the world famous Ford Fiesta. Another question will be, are most car consumers going to switch from purchasing standard small-sized cars to purchasing compact SUVs? In this case, only time will tell, but most of the entrants this year to our best selling car list appear to be new small SUVs, so based on this it looks like people really are currently favouring small SUVs.
The Hyundai Tucson is a mid-sized SUV, which shows some car consumers like to have larger sized SUVs. The Hyundai Tucson in particular is an affordable priced mid-size SUV, according to WhatCar you can purchase a brand new Hyundai Tucson from £28,093 which is reasonably priced for a brand new car of its size with all of the car’s high tech features.
It is fair to suggest that the Hyundai Tucson does share some similarities with the Kia Sportage, as Hyundai is the parent company of Kia, so the build quality and designs do share lots of similarities and sometimes car buyers have a different time choosing between the two brands because they are very in sync with each other.
Whilst most of this article has been based on featuring SUVs, our research has shown that lots of people are still purchasing small cars and Mini is still one of the UK’s best selling car brands. We frequently see Mini be favoured by first-time drivers because of how small the car is in size and generations of families will drive a mini as their first car, there is definitely a traditional element as to why Mini is still so popular to this day and Mini are always very good in re-inventing themselves to keep relevant and current to ever-changing times, if you were to purchase a brand new mini, it would be kitted out with all the latest in-car technology, so there are lots of reasons why car consumers love Mini.
The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk- the world’s richest man has been in the press a lot in the last few months and his cars appear to be just as high profile as he himself is. The Tesla Model Y is currently one of the UK’s best selling cars and it shows that the British public is responding well to Tesla as a car manufacturer in general, even if some of their ideas and inventions are a bit eccentric. It probably will not surprise you that the Tesla Model Y is a small SUV and it is one of the few fully electric small SUV cars on the market in the UK.
The Tesla Model 3 is another best selling car which is a Tesla in the UK. This version of a Tesla is a compact executive sedan, which many people professional people would use for their commute to work or their drive to meetings. The Tesla Model 3 seems to be a very appealing car, especially to tech lovers and those who want to purchase an executive fully electric car. One of the most unique features of a Tesla is their impressive 17 inch screen which you can even watch Netflix on (if you are completely stationary of course).
Like the Vauxhall Corsa, the Vauxhall Mokka has had a recent complete overhaul in its appearance. The Vauxhall Mokka has gone from being a low-cost, basic small SUV, to a modern and expensive looking small SUV which is even remarkably available as a fully electric vehicle.
